The Bali Provincial Culture Service has officially announced the cancellation of the 2024 Ogoh Ogoh Parade at the provincial level. Despite the cancellation, tourists can still witness the Ogoh Ogoh parade in various villages across Bali.

I Nyoman Wisandika, the Head of the Buleleng Regency Culture Department, explained that the cancellation of the 2024 Ogoh Ogoh parade was attributed to budgetary constraints and the proximity of the Nyepi holiday to Election Day in Indonesia.

“It had to be cancelled this year, and the proximity to the election was also a factor. Hopefully, in 2025, we can organize it again,” mentioned Wisandika, as reported by Detik Bali (17/01/2024). Tourists planning to visit Bali for the Ogoh Ogoh festival can still enjoy the event in various areas across the island.

The Culture and Tourism Department of Badung Regency is set to organize an Ogoh Ogoh parade in 2024. The Ogoh Ogoh festival will be limited to traditional village areas and will conclude by 10 PM local time. Any parade exceeding this time limit may face disqualification. Tourists are invited to explore various villages in the Badung district to witness the vibrant Ogoh Ogoh festival.

Meanwhile, several traditional villages in Bali have collectively decided to cancel the Ogoh Ogoh festival in 2024. Notably, the traditional villages of Buleleng and Tabanan have officially announced the non-celebration of Ogoh Ogoh due to various reasons. They plan to resume the Ogoh Ogoh competition in 2025.

“Taking into account considerations of togetherness, and equality, as well as the prevailing political and economic conditions this year, we have decided not to proceed with the Ogoh Ogoh parade in 2024,” stated Sutrisna, the Head of Buleleng Traditional Village on 19th January 2024.
