22nd September 2022 – The Governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster, inaugurated a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) with a maximum capacity of 400 Kilowatt-peak (kWp) on the Bali Mandara Toll Road Solar Power Plant yesterday. Bali Mandara Toll Road is one of the first clean energy transitions to be built in Indonesia and is in accordance with the vision of Bali’s regional development. The vision is called Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali, through it, Bali is aiming to produce cleaner air and ecosystems.

The panels are installed at six points, each at the entrance and exit of the motorway at three toll gates. The length of the solar panels at each installed point of 1 kilometre and will be an environmentally friendly source of electricity for street lighting lamps, operational offices and also toll gates on the Bali-Mandara Toll Road, while supporting the reduction of global carbon emissions.

Furthermore, the power plant itself is a result of the collaboration of PTBA, PT Bukit Energi Investama, PT JBT, dan PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk. It is also a form of collaboration and synergy between SOEs in supporting Indonesia’s G20 Presidency in 2022. This New and Renewable Energy based power plant is in line with one of the three agenda focuses of the G20 Presidency in Indonesia, namely the transition to sustainable energy.

Interestingly, Bali Mandara toll road was built with the appearance of toll gates and street lighting decorated with Balinese architectural ornaments, then there are Balinese characters. So, other than speeding up travel time in transportation by providing a sense of security and comfort, Bali Mandara Toll Road is also the entrance to the island of Bali which gives a harmonious impression of nature, people, and Balinese culture, as well as being able to improve the image of quality Bali tourism: dignified, upscale, and environmentally friendly. Thanks to the addition of the newest solar power plant.
