Foreigner Found Dead After Being Swept Away in Tibubeneng

A foreign national was found dead after being swept away by floodwaters in Tibubeneng Village, North Kuta District, Badung Regency, on Sunday morning.

The Head of the Public Relations Sub-Division of the Badung Police, First Inspector Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti, said the incident occurred on Jalan Krisnantara during heavy rainfall. The victim was riding a motorcycle when she attempted to cross a flooded road.

“The victim, a foreign national whose identity has not been determined, was swept away by the floodwaters while crossing Jalan Krisnantara, Tibubeneng Village, North Kuta, Badung,” Inastuti said on Sunday, as reported by detikBali.

Police said the incident occurred at around 1:10 a.m. WITA. The victim was swept away along with her motorcycle after being carried by a strong current near a bridge. Her body was discovered several hours later when the water level began to recede.

“The victim’s body was found at around 4:40 a.m. WITA,” Inastuti said.

“She was stuck between the bridge wall and a gap in the wood that had been swept away by the current.”

The foreign national was identified as a woman, although her identity and nationality have not yet been confirmed. Authorities said the motorcycle could not be recovered due to its position in a culvert and the continued high water level.

The Head of the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, I Nyoman Sidakarya, said his team received information about the discovery of the body at around 8:05 a.m. WITA.

“We have assigned five personnel to carry out the evacuation. According to reports, the victim was below and caught in a pipe,” Sidakarya said in a written statement.

The victim’s body was evacuated and taken to Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital for further handling. Police said efforts are ongoing to determine the victim’s identity and place of residence.

“Currently, the victim’s identity and residence are still unknown, and the search is ongoing,” Inastuti said.

Authorities continue to monitor flood-prone areas across Bali as cleanup efforts and assessments remain underway.
