The dredging is thought to be carried out for the construction of a new hotel in the Pecatu Village cliff area. There is no exact information on when the dredging activities began. Netizens expressed their outrage at the activity because it is considered to damage Bali’s natural environment.

“We are very serious, as soon as there was news of the construction I immediately ordered the ranks to coordinate, but also together with the Provincial Government (pemprov) temporarily stopped the construction,” he said, during a press conference at the World Water Forum (WWF) event in Nusa Dua, Bali to CNNIndonesia.

Although the construction on the cliff has been fulfilled, but for spatial planning, it must be reviewed first whether the construction is appropriate. Sandi will also ensure that all licenses have been fulfilled.

Sandiaga admitted that he had received initial data related to the development. The data is being verified. But he emphasized that development in Bali must emphasize environmental sustainability.

Bali Province Satpol PP has also checked the location on Friday, May 18, 2024. As reported from DetikBali, Head of Satpol PP Badung I Gusti Agung Ketut Suryanegara said that the dredging of the limestone cliff had been known since a few weeks ago.
