autogate for ITAP and ITAS foreigner

Easier Entry for Foreigners: Autogate Access Now Available to ITAP and ITAS Holders

Share:

Foreign nationals holding Permanent Residence Permits (ITAP) and Limited Stay Permits (ITAS) can now cross the immigration autogate access at Soekarno-Hatta and Ngurah Rai airports.

“The integration of the visa and residence permit issuance system with the autogate system escalates the performance of immigration services at crossings. Previously, foreigners holding ITAP/ITAS conducted immigration checks at the counter by officers, although there were indeed special counters. Now the experience is more concise, more pleasant and very effective,” said Acting Director General of Immigration, Saffar M. Godam.

He explained that the convenience obtained by foreigners holding ITAP and ITAS did not reduce the security aspects and face recognition technology at the auto gate. In addition, all passers-by are not included in the ban list or red notice.

“We continue to encourage efforts to attract qualified foreigners to come to Indonesia so that the country gets a positive impact, especially in the economy. We implement the visa and residence permit policy as a filter but make it easier at the same time,” Godam said.

The autogate process, which only takes 15-25 seconds per person, expedites the Immigration check traffic so that the volume of passers using the autogate increases constantly.

There have been 3,518,963 foreigners entering and exiting the autogate

In the January-September 2024 period, 3,518,963 foreigners crossed in and out of Indonesia through the autogate or around 390 thousand foreigners per month.

The autogate process only takes 15-25 seconds per person to expedite immigration inspection traffic. That way, the volume of passers using the autogate increases constantly.

This autogate service could previously only be used by foreigners holding electronic visas and Free Visa Visits (BVK).

The number of ITAS and ITAP issued by Immigration until September 2024 is 134,037 ITAS and 3,648 ITAP.

Through system digitization, especially autogate optimization, Immigration makes it easier for ITAP/ITAS holders who are frequent travelers.

How to use autogate access

The first step in using autogate is to ensure that all parts of the face are clearly visible. Accessories such as hats, masks, or other things that cover the face must be removed first.

Here are the steps to use the autogate access at the airport:

  1. Prepare your passport. Open the passport cover because it can interfere with the scanning process.
  2. Enter the green gate and position your feet on the yellow footsteps.
  3. Remove masks, glasses and hats so that faces are easily detected.
  4. Open the passport profile page that contains your biodata.
  5. Scan and press the passport in the space provided. Do not let the passport move during the scanning process.
  6. Position your face towards the screen and camera.
  7. Wait for the machine to check the Interpol database and the ban database.
  8. Once the door opens, leave and ensure no items are left behind.
