Australian plus-size model and influencer CurvySam has taken to social media to express her dissatisfaction with her Bali accommodation, raising concerns about her ability to create content during her stay. The popular blogger shared her frustration on the 20th of September, 2023, in a TikTok video that has since garnered significant attention.

In the video, CurvySam can be seen poolside at a villa she had booked through Airbnb, sharing her initial excitement about the picturesque surroundings. However, her tone quickly shifted as she revealed her “worst nightmare” while filming.

“Honestly, I feel like crying,” she began, disappointed. “I’ve just got into my accommodation, and while the photos are beautiful, next door is a construction site with no privacy.”

The camera panned to reveal a neighbouring building covered in large black tarps undergoing construction. CurvySam explained that debris from the site had even fallen into her pool, further adding to her frustration. She expressed her intentions for the trip, saying, “I’m here in this villa to shoot content, to talk on camera, and I can’t do that with this noise and disruption.”

CurvySam highlighted the stark difference in cost, revealing that the two nights in the villa cost more than her previous nine days on the Indonesian holiday island combined. She mentioned her financial restraint, stating that she had been saving money while starting a new business.

The model also voiced her discomfort with construction workers who seemed to be observing her activities. She acknowledged that it was not the fault of the property owners or the workers themselves but emphasised that the situation was not what she had anticipated.

In the video description, CurvySam acknowledged the remote and beautiful location of the villa and expressed her understanding that the issues were beyond the control of the property owner and the workers.

@curvysam Honestly, this is my worst nightmare. It’s a beautiful remote location and it’s not the owners fault and it’s not the workers fault. Unfortunately this is just how things are in Bali. I looked on Google Maps, I read all of their reviews. The Villa Manager is so wonderful and so apologetic. I just really needed this mental reprieve, and to have some quiet. Plus I planned to film video contant, you all know I love chatting to the camera. These two nights have cost me more than my entire 9 days in Bali so far. Sigh. I will still get to shoot my new range for @Hildas ~ Size Inclusive Robes but its going to be loud with no relaxing or swimming in the pool. Especially with builders dropping so much stuff. Definitely not comfortable having an audience watching. #balivilla #baliaccomodation #baliconstruction ♬ original sound – CurvySam ~ Plus Size Fashion

In a subsequent video, CurvySam shared that the villa manager had proactively addressed her concerns. According to her, the manager had apologised for the inconvenience, communicated with the construction crew, and provided her with information about when they would take breaks.

CurvySam’s experience highlights the importance of clear communication and understanding between guests and accommodation providers, especially when the purpose of the stay involves content creation and specific requirements. It also underscores the potential challenges travellers may face when booking accommodations in developing or construction-prone areas.
