Regulatory Approval and Compliance in Indonesia

According to Indonesia’s Postal and Telecommunications Certification Agency (Postel), the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has approved five variants of the iPhone 16 series for sale in the country. The certification numbers are as follows:

  • iPhone 16 Pro Max: 108550/DJID/2025

  • iPhone 16 Pro: 108552/DJID/2025

  • iPhone 16 Plus: 108553/DJID/2025

  • iPhone 16: 108574/DJID/2025

  • iPhone 16e: 108575/DJID/2025

The Postel certification is a mandatory requirement for all telecommunications products manufactured, assembled, imported, used, and distributed in Indonesia. Additionally, Apple must secure a Product Registration Certificate (TPP Import) from the Ministry of Industry and comply with Indonesia’s International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) registration regulations.

Apple’s Agreement with the Indonesian Government

Prior to the launch, Apple and the Indonesian government finalised an agreement on 26 February 2025, allowing the company to proceed with sales in the country. The deal, which followed lengthy negotiations, includes commitments to developing manufacturing facilities and research centres in Indonesia.

In 2024, Apple faced restrictions on selling the iPhone 16 in Indonesia due to non-compliance with local component requirements and certification regulations. With the scheduled launch now confirmed, it is likely that Apple has fulfilled all necessary obligations.
