Indonesia AirAsia is once again expanding its international reach by launching a new route to Australia in early 2025.

After inaugurating the Bali-Darwin route on 22 March 2025, Indonesia AirAsia is now opening direct flights from Bali-Adelaide, becoming the fourth route connecting Australia and Bali.

President Director of Indonesia AirAsia, Veranita Yosephine, said that the Bali-Adelaide route is the next flight route served by AirAsia, after previously opening routes from Perth, Cairns, and Darwin.

“We are very excited to fly to Adelaide, South Australia, for the first time. Australia is one of the markets with significant growth for us, having previously expanded connectivity to Perth, Cairns and Darwin within the Indonesia AirAsia network,Veranita said, as quoted from her official statement.

This addition is also the first time for AirAsia Indonesia to serve a direct route to Adelaide.

“This flight strengthens Bali’s position as Indonesia AirAsia’s main hub. With this route, travellers from South Australia can now connect with more than 130 destinations in Asia and beyond through the AirAsia Group network, including popular destinations such as Jakarta, Labuan Bajo, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Phuket and Bangkok,Veranita said.

Brenton Cox, Managing Director of Adelaide Airport, expressed his enthusiasm regarding this direct flight. Indonesia AirAsia is the first low-cost airline to serve non-stop flights to Adelaide since 2015.

“We are optimistic that this route will strengthen connectivity and open up opportunities for cooperation in both countries,he said.

Meanwhile, the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Sydney, Vedi Kurnia Buana, said that he appreciated the opening of this new route.

According to him, this initiative not only provides more options for Australian travellers to enjoy the appeal of Bali and other destinations in Indonesia but also encourages Indonesian travellers to explore the rich history and culture of South Australia.

“We appreciate Indonesia AirAsia’s commitment to supporting tourism growth and economic opportunities in both countries.

This route will strengthen connectivity, increase tourist visits, and open up opportunities for cooperation in various fields.

We are optimistic that this route will be well received by the people of South Australia and Indonesia, and are ready to support the smooth running of the inaugural flight, said Vedi.
