The Jakarta Provincial Government is set to hold a series of public events at the Bundaran HI on 27–28 June 2026 as part of celebrations marking the capital’s 499th anniversary.

Under the theme “Towards 5 Centuries of Jakarta”, the two-day programme will feature concerts, cultural performances, visual art installations and special transport incentives for residents and visitors.

According to information published on the Jakarta Provincial Government’s official social media channels, the main celebration at the Bundaran HI will take place from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm WIB on Saturday, 27 June.

The government has invited residents to take part in the festivities, which form part of a broader series of events leading up to Jakarta’s fifth centenary.

Concerts and Visual Attractions to Mark the Anniversary

The anniversary celebrations will begin on Saturday afternoon with a free public concert featuring several Indonesian musicians, including Mahalini, Padi Reborn, Adrian Khalif and Cici Paramida.

In addition to live performances, visitors can enjoy a range of visual attractions throughout the evening, including video mapping projections, lighting displays, flying LED shows and art installations.

The event will also include the official launch of the Jakarta 5th Century logo, which is expected to become a key symbol in preparations for the city’s 500th anniversary celebrations.

The Jakarta Provincial Government said the programme would also feature a Go Green installation, reflecting efforts to incorporate environmental themes into the anniversary events.

Public Transport Discounts and Free Entry to Tourist Attractions

Celebrations will continue on Sunday, 28 June, with the “Colorful Jakarta” programme. Activities are scheduled to include a giant balloon parade, a mass dance performance involving 500 dancers, and a cultural collaboration combining traditional Gambang Kromong music with ballet.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the Jakarta Provincial Government has introduced several incentives for the public.

Fares on MRT Jakarta, LRT Jakarta and Transjakarta services will be reduced to Rp1 during the two-day celebration period. The discounted fare will apply to all passengers regardless of their place of residence or whether they hold a Jakarta identity card.

The government has also announced free entry to several popular public attractions, including Ancol, Ragunan Zoo, Monas and museums managed by the Jakarta administration.

Authorities have advised residents to anticipate traffic adjustments around the city centre during the celebrations.

Jalan M.H. Thamrin, from the Sarinah area to Dukuh Atas, will be closed to traffic from 2:00 pm WIB on Saturday to accommodate the event.

Meanwhile, Car Free Day activities on Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said scheduled for Sunday will be cancelled, with celebrations concentrated along the Sudirman–Thamrin corridor.

The Jakarta Provincial Government has urged the public to monitor its official channels for the latest updates regarding schedules, traffic arrangements and event implementation.
