Not Only in Bandung, a Korean Film Is Also Shooting in Tangerang, Allegedly Starring BLACKPINK’s Lisa

BLACKPINK’s Lisa is stepping into a new phase of her career. Lalisa Manobal is officially making her film debut in Tygo, a Netflix action thriller that brings together some of South Korea’s biggest names.

The film stars Ma Dong Seok, also known internationally as Don Lee, alongside Lee Jin Uk, Choi Dae Hoon, and Ryeoun. The project marks a major moment for Lisa, who is transitioning from global pop icon to screen actress.

What has caught even more attention is the choice of filming locations. Indonesia is one of the main backdrops for the film, with scenes shot in both West Bandung and Tangerang, turning local landmarks into an international movie set.

About Tygo and the Extraction Universe

Tygo is a spin-off from Netflix’s Extraction universe, which previously starred Chris Hemsworth. After expanding the franchise to South Korea, the story continues with a darker and more grounded tone.

The film centres on Tygo, played by Ma Dong Seok. He is a former child soldier who lost his family at a young age and now survives as a mercenary. His life is defined by high-risk missions in conflict zones, with little room for anything beyond survival.

While plot details remain tightly under wraps, the casting and global locations suggest Netflix is aiming for a gritty action film with international appeal.

Why West Bandung Was Chosen

Filming in West Bandung first came to light through a post shared by Tygo co-producer Delon Tio. The image showed a sweeping view of the Citatah Karst area in Cipatat District, West Bandung Regency, which features dramatic limestone formations.

Citatah Karst Manager Ikbal Kamal Pasya confirmed that the location was chosen after a long survey process by the production team.

“Initially, a local vendor contacted us, and they conducted a survey in November 2025. After several surveys, we finally confirmed the use of this tourist attraction in December 2025,” Ikbal said.

He explained that the area closely matched the production’s visual needs.

“So, it just so happened that the natural environment here was close to what they wanted to build. Well, the relationships we know offered, geographically, something they said was close to what they were hoping for. Like the bridge, which they indirectly needed,” he added.

The location’s rugged terrain and cinematic views made it a natural fit for an action-heavy storyline.

Tangerang Filming Triggers Temporary Road Closures

Filming later moved to Tangerang City, where production activity led to traffic diversions across several roads. The diversions were in place for four days, from 28 to 31 January 2026.

Tangerang City Metro Police Public Relations Chief AKP Prapto Laksono confirmed the arrangements, explaining that the closures were divided into two sessions based on filming needs.

“Yes, there are Korean stars filming. The diversions will only last a few days,” Prapto said on Wednesday, 28 January 2026.

The Tangerang City Government worked alongside the Metro Police Traffic Unit to manage the situation. Jalan K.S. Tubun Karawaci, from Jembatan Air 10 to Simpang Tujuh, was partially closed during filming hours.

“We have prepared a traffic engineering scheme to ensure that the public and road users can continue their activities as normal,” said Suhaely on Thursday, 29 January 2026.

“Officers from the Transportation Agency and the police have been deployed at several crucial points to help direct road users through the provided alternative routes.”

Directional signs and officers were placed along diversion routes connecting Neglasari, Cadas, Bayur, and surrounding areas. Authorities also apologised for the inconvenience and urged the public to follow traffic regulations while the closures were in effect.
