The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has carried out simultaneous raids in several drug-prone regions across West Java and Bali as part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal drug distribution.

The joint operation, conducted between September and October 2025, resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of narcotics worth around IDR 300 million.

In West Java, operations were held in Bandung, Cimahi, Bogor, Kuningan, and West Bandung Regency. A total of 230 individuals were detained during the raids, with 14 testing positive for drug use.

According to BNN, twelve of those who tested positive have been referred to rehabilitation centres, while two others were handed over to the police for possessing methamphetamine smoking equipment.

Meanwhile, in Bali, the BNN conducted raids in several boarding houses in Denpasar and Badung, suspected of being used as drug distribution points. Officers confiscated 5.12 grams of marijuana and found three people who tested positive for drugs after urine tests.

Those individuals were also placed in rehabilitation programmes.

Laundry Worker Arrested for Marijuana Courier Role

A laundry employee in Bali, identified by the initials AR (20), was arrested by officers from the Bali Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) on Friday, 7 November 2025.

AR was detained at his boarding house in the Tuban area, Kuta, Badung Regency, after being found with 1,076 grams approximately 1.2 kilograms of marijuana.

“He works for a private company. He’s a laundry employee,” said the Head of Bali BNNP, Brigadier General Rudy Ahmad Sudrajat, as quoted by Detiknews on Monday, 10 November 2025.

Rudy clarified that AR was not a key player in the network but acted as a courier instructed to collect and store marijuana packages. “We are still investigating his boss. We know that after AR was arrested, his boss fled,” Rudy stated.

According to investigators, the modus operandi involved AR being ordered to collect marijuana from a specific location and store it at his boarding house in Tuban. The package would later be picked up by his superior or directly by customers.

“The boss’s customers would come to AR’s boarding house. However, AR was not paid for his role. Only his boarding house was covered by his boss,” Rudy explained.

Further investigation revealed that AR was part of one of five drug networks operating in Tuban, Pemogan, and Sesetan areas. The Bali BNNP confirmed that these networks were dismantled in the same joint operation, leading to the arrest of six suspects identified by their initials BY (34), FX (21), NA (41), AE (27), SM (24), and YH (44).

The BNNP Bali stated that these arrests marked progress in curbing local narcotics distribution channels connected to larger inter-provincial networks. The suspects and evidence have been transferred to the Bali BNNP for further investigation and legal proceedings.

Brigadier General Rudy emphasised that the agency will continue joint operations to prevent the spread of drug abuse, particularly in areas vulnerable to distribution.

“This is a continuous effort. We are strengthening monitoring and enforcement in coordination with other law enforcement bodies,” he said.
