Jakarta Offers IDR 1 Fares for MRT, LRT, and Transjakarta on Anniversary Day

In celebration of Jakarta’s 488th anniversary on 22 June 2025, the Jakarta Provincial Government will offer a special fare of just IDR 1 for public transport services, including Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta.

The reduced fare will apply for a full 24 hours, from 00.00 to 23.59 WIB, allowing residents and visitors to travel affordably across the capital.

This initiative, announced by the Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency (Dishub), is aimed at supporting the public’s mobility during the anniversary celebration and encouraging wider use of mass public transport. The decision was officially confirmed by the Head of Jakarta’s Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo.

“Especially to support the mobility of citizens in the celebration of the peak night of Jakarta’s Anniversary,” Syafrin said, as quoted by ANTARA.

He further added that the IDR 1 tariff serves as a token of appreciation to citizens who regularly use public transport and as a step towards reducing reliance on private vehicles.

“The Rp1 tariff policy is also supported by the extension of operating hours on a number of routes, especially to support the mobility of citizens in the celebration of Jakarta’s anniversary night,” he explained on Wednesday, 18 June.

The fare reduction is supported by regional regulations, including local bylaws and gubernatorial regulations governing Jakarta’s transportation policy. The initiative builds on previous successful experiences of implementing temporary fare adjustments and additional services for major public events in the city.

Public Transport Expansion and Cultural Events to Mark Celebration

Alongside the fare discount, the Jakarta Transportation Agency will extend the operational hours of several public transport services, ensuring greater access and convenience for the public attending anniversary celebrations. Services such as Microtrans and Transjakarta Cares, which already operate at zero fares, will continue their regular schedules without changes.

“In addition to the main services, we also ensure that Microtrans, Transjakarta Cares, and other Transjakarta services that already have zero rupiah tariffs, continue to operate as usual without changes in tariff policy,” said Syafrin.

The fare initiative is part of a broader celebration organised by the Jakarta Provincial Government, which includes cultural performances and public events. Festivities will feature traditional Betawi arts and culinary offerings.

On 29 June, a special Jakarta Anniversary Car-Free Day will take place across three major locations: Dukuh Atas, GBK (Gelora Bung Karno), and the HI Roundabout.

During the Car-Free Day event, attendees can enjoy pencak silat demonstrations, gambang kromong music performances, and local culinary treats such as kerak telor and bir pletok, showcasing the capital’s cultural richness and community spirit.
