In his opening remarks, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, underscored the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening coffee production.
“Indonesia ranks fourth among the world’s largest coffee producers,” said Zulkifli Hasan, popularly known as Zulhas, during the opening ceremony. He further expressed hopes that Indonesia could eventually surpass Vietnam, which currently holds second place globally.
A Global Collaboration in the Heart of Southeast Asia
Hosting the event for the first time, Indonesia has been lauded as a fitting location given its dual role as both a leading coffee producer and a major consumer market in Asia.
“Indonesia’s position as one of the most significant consumer markets in Asia, as well as a leading coffee producer, makes it an ideal location for this global event,” said Yannis Apostolopoulos, Chief Executive Officer of the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), during the Grand Opening on Thursday, 15 May, as reported by Liputan6.
“With Indonesia’s important role in the global coffee supply chain, this event is a catalyst for collaboration and knowledge exchange among industry players,” he added.
In partnership with Exporum and the Speciality Coffee Association of Indonesia, the organisers aim to deliver an exceptional experience, celebrating Indonesia’s coffee heritage while paving the way for a more sustainable and prosperous global coffee industry.
The event includes various educational and interactive programmes such as the World Coffee Championship: World Brewers Cup, Roaster Village, Cupping Rooms, and Brew Bars, further enhancing the learning experience for attendees.
