BPBD Intensifies Efforts to Address Jakarta Flood and Surrounding Areas

Jakarta flood-Heavy rainfall since Tuesday night, January 28, 2025, has caused flooding in several areas of Jakarta, Tangerang, and the surrounding regions.

The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD Jakarta) reported that 35 neighbourhoods (RT) and four roads in Jakarta were submerged as of Thursday morning, January 30, 2025. This data was based on BPBD Jakarta’s monitoring as of 7:00 AM on Friday.

“BPBD has recorded flooding in 35 neighbourhoods and four roads,” said Mohamad Yohan, Head of the Data and Information Center (Kapusdatin) of BPBD Jakarta, as quoted by CNN Indonesia.

Yohan stated that BPBD Jakarta continues to deploy personnel to monitor flood conditions in every affected area.

In Kamal, a densely populated residential area in Kalideres, West Jakarta, hundreds of houses were submerged under water as high as 1.3 meters, forcing approximately 50 families to evacuate.

The following areas remain affected:

West Jakarta

11 neighborhoods:
Cengkareng Barat: 1 RT
Rawa Buaya: 2 RT
Pegadungan: 3 RT
Tegal Alur: 5 RT

North Jakarta

4 neighbourhoods:
Rorotan: 1 RT
Semper Barat: 3 RT
Floodwater in these areas ranged from 30 to 55 centimetres in depth.

Ministry of Social Affairs Establishes Public Kitchens in Flood-Affected Areas in Jakarta

The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) has set up public kitchens and distributed logistical aid to flood-affected areas in West Jakarta, East Jakarta, and North Jakarta.

Acting Director of Social Protection for Victims of Natural Disasters (PSKBA) at Kemensos, Maryani Mansyur, stated that the first phase of assistance was distributed from the central logistics warehouse in Bekasi. This included 2,000 ready-to-eat meal packages, 200 family kits, 200 kids’ clothing packages, 250 mattresses, 250 blankets, 100 rolled tents, 400 ready-to-eat food packages, and 10 family tents, with a total value of Rp578,250,000.

“Additionally, Kemensos has delivered the second phase of assistance through the logistics warehouse of the Jakarta Provincial Social Services Office (Dinsos), which included 150 mattresses, 150 kids’ clothing packages, and 30 blankets,” she stated, as quoted by Tirto.
