History of Tirta Gangga Bali

Tirta Gangga Park is a water park that used to be the palace of the Karangasem Kingdom.

The park has an enchanting charm with clear water pools, artistic statues, green gardens and charming rice field views.

The name Tirta Gangga comes from two Sanskrit words, “tirta” meaning holy water and “gangga” meaning the Ganges river in India. The name reflects the Balinese Hindu’s respect for water as a source of life and purity.

The water that flows in this park comes from the Rejasa Spring, which is believed to have the properties to cure various diseases. The history of Tirta Gangga dates back to the time of the King of Karangasem, Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem Agung, in 1946.
