BMKG Reveals the 10 Cities with the Highest Temperatures in Indonesia for October

Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) explains the cause of the hot temperatures in various regions of Indonesia.

This high temperature is expected to last for the next few days due to atmospheric conditions and natural phenomena such as tropical cyclones.

As reported by Antara, Miming, Head of the BMKG’s Special Phenomenon Weather Prediction and Early Warning Team, said that maximum heat conditions of more than 37-37.8 degrees Celsius were detected in Majalengka in West Java, Semarang in Central Java, and Bima in West Nusa Tenggara.

According to BMKG, this condition is still related to minimal cloud cover and the Sun’s apparent movement above the equator. However, based on the agency’s observations, this condition is still in the normal category, which does not impact seasonal changes in Indonesia.

In addition, the recent hot weather has also been influenced by the apparent movement of the Sun above the equator. Even so, BMKG observations show that the hot weather that occurs in Indonesia is normal.

In order to reduce the impact of these hot temperatures, BMKG urges the public to consume enough water regularly to avoid dehydration, especially when carrying out outdoor activities.

Furthermore, it is recommended to wear protection such as a hat or umbrella to protect the head and upper body, sunglasses to protect the eyes, and, if necessary, sunscreen to protect the skin from exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays.

BMKG also reminds people not to carelessly burn anything on vacant land, especially in forest areas and garbage dumps, to prevent the risk of fire.

Hot weather occurs throughout October 2024

Although Indonesia is entering the transition period from a dry to a rainy season in October 2024, people in some areas still feel the hot weather.

The Head of the BMKG Weather Prediction and Early Warning Team, Ida Pramuwardani, has predicted hot weather at the end of October 2024.

She explained that hot weather in Indonesia is triggered by the east wind or Australian Monsoon which carries dry air accompanied by fairly dry local air humidity.

“Although there is still potential for local rain in several places due to local weather factors. This lack of cloud cover causes hot conditions during the day,” Ida said to Kompas.
