After stating that Elon Musk’s internet service, Starlink, will launch in mid-May, it turns out that he will attend the service’s inauguration in Indonesia.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan revealed that President Jokowi and Elon Musk will inaugurate the Starlink service on the sidelines of the 10th World Water Forum in Nusa Dua, Bali.

“Elon Musk will inaugurate with President Starlink to facilitate communication in remote areas on Sunday, May 19, 2024,” he told CNN Indonesia.

However, Luhut did not explain in detail related to the Starlink service between the Indonesian government and Elon Musk.

In addition, Luhut ensured that Elon Musk would be present in Bali as a speaker during the 10th World Water Forum event in Nusa Dua.

“Elon Musk will be invited as a public speaker at the opening of the 10th World Water Forum,” he said.

The 10th World Water Forum will be held from May 18 to 25, 2024, in Nusa Dua, Bali. The event is expected to boost the local economy while participants enjoy the beauty of the ‘island of the gods’.

The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) estimates that the 10th World Water Forum could contribute IDR 500-800 billion to the tourism and economic sectors in Bali Province.

Previously, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno predicted that 50,000 tourists would come to Bali from within and outside the country when WWF took place.

Starlink Services in Indonesia

Starlink has received all operating licenses in Indonesia and passed the Operational Licensing Test (ULO).

Elon Musk’s company has also listed the prices for its services on its website. Some people have even tested the satellite internet service themselves.

There are two service package options provided by Starlink, namely personal and business.

Each option is divided into three package categories: residential or fixed location, roaming or land mobility, and ship or mobility at sea.
