The Papuan government has initiated plans to construct an underwater museum in the Biak Numfor district in 2024, aiming to transform it into a prominent tourist destination (7/1/2024). Onny Dangeubun mentioned that the proposal for this museum has been submitted to the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment since 27th November 2023.

The underwater museum in Biak Numfor will encompass multiple water zones, spanning across Nusi, Wundi, Mansorbabo, and Padaido islands. The museum’s collection will feature remnants from World War II found in the waters of the Padaido/Aimando islands, such as plane and car wrecks, along with various artefacts.
