South Korean Man Arrested for Alleged Murder of Jakarta Immigration Officer

Share:

On 28 October 2023, a South Korean man “KH”, aged 60, was apprehended by the authorities of Polda Metro Jaya Police. His arrest was in connection with the tragic demise of a 23-year-old West Jakarta Immigration officer identified as TFF, who was discovered lifeless after a fall from the 19th floor of an apartment in the Ciledug area of Tangerang City.

This incident transpired at approximately 3 AM local time, and details about it only emerged several hours later. The Polda Metro Jaya is actively investigating this case, suspecting foul play rather than suicide.

In the same apartment unit, the South Korean man displayed strong reluctance to permit entry to the apartment security officers. He went to the extent of threatening the officers with a knife and hot water if they attempted to access his premises.

However, it wasn’t long before the police successfully apprehended him and promptly designated him as a witness. This decision was made due to his status as the last individual seen with the victim before the tragic incident.

As of 7 November 2023, the Polda Metro Jaya police had interviewed 15 witnesses. An additional revelation came to light, suggesting that before the victim’s untimely demise, the South Korean man had accompanied the victim and two others to a location in West Jakarta.

The police have formally designated the South Korean man as a suspect, but they are actively investigating the motive behind the victim’s murder. Information obtained from Indonesian Immigration indicates that the suspect had previously been deported and had also spent time in detention.

According to details provided by the police, both the victim and the suspect, identified as “KH,” had left to return home in the early hours of the morning around 2 AM. The specific motive for the incident has not been disclosed at this time, as the authorities are awaiting confirmation of additional evidence.
