Officials Urge Tourists to Leave Extra Time While Travelling to Bali Airport

Officials from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International advised tourists in Bali to allow additional time while travelling there. In the coming weeks, all travellers are being urged by Bali Airport’s General Manager, Handy Heryudhitiawan to arrive at the airport extra early for their flights.

When speaking with journalists, Handy Heryudhitiawan said he had maintained constant communication with the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) at the Ngurah Rai Meteorological Station.

According to the weather predictions for the upcoming week, there will likely be excessive rain and storms, which will inevitably cause more traffic and slower-than-usual travel periods.

“This appeal is solely to anticipate delays for potential passengers due to extreme weather, such as heavy rain,” Heryudhitiawan added.

Heryudhitiawan said, “At certain times of day, traffic flow to the airport is frequently backed up. Additionally, it is still pouring severely at this time. In order to avoid being late for the airport, potential tourists in Bali must plan beforehand. Even though it started to clear up on Sunday, the 9th of September and Monday, the 10th of September, Bali is still expecting more severe, atypical rainfall.”

Over the past two weeks, Bali has been battered by a severe rain. Rainstorms have damaged towns and roadways, causing landslides, localised floods, and other disasters.

“Ngurah Rai Airport always prioritises airport service users’ convenience, security, and safety. Therefore, we convey this appeal to service users who will fly from Ngurah Rai Airport for our mutual convenience.” Heryudhitiawan said, bringing his speech to a close.

Tourists in Bali are advised to leave more time while travelling throughout Bali as it enters the year’s busiest period. This is especially important during rush hour.

5.196.806 of the 9.7 million passengers who have used Bali Airport this year have been on overseas flights.

According to data on travel, June 2023 was the busiest month of the year thus far, with foreign lines carrying 1,017,205 passengers or 511,447 arriving passengers, and 505,758 outgoing passengers.
