A Danish woman was detained in Bali after being identified in a pornographic video posted online. On the 29th of May, local police sent a statement to the media as the authorities continued to crack down on travellers they deemed disruptive.

If the Danish woman was convicted of breaking the Pornography Law, the 50-year-old lady, publicly identified as CAP, could face ten years of imprisonment. Bali Police Chief Setianto informed the media that CAP is reportedly breaking Article 36 of the contentious 2008 statute.

“The article states that any person exhibiting nudity, sexual exploitation, intercourse, or other pornographic content in public could face up to 10 years in prison and/or a fine of $335,000,” Setianto explained.

A recent viral video was discovered to have CAP showing out her genitalia, according to the authorities. Sitting at the back of a motorcycle, she lifted her skirt and legs toward the camera in the footage. According to the investigation, the footage was reportedly shot in Seminyak, Bali, at approximately midnight on the 20th of December, 2022.

The Danish woman finally revealed her motive for showing off her genitals while riding a motorcycle in Seminyak, Kuta, Bali.

“So, at that time, the Danish woman told someone (who recorded them) about prostitution in Thailand. She said there were many ladyboys wearing mini skirts to reveal their underwear. She then demonstrated it while showing her genitals,” said Denpasar Police Chief Bambang Yugo Pamungkas on Tuesday, 30th of May 2023.

Bali is a well-liked vacation spot that draws plenty of travellers. In recent years, the community has had to contend with an influx of foreigners dismissing traditional practices. The unruly foreigners’ behaviour has led to authorities cracking down more intensively on foreigners who violate the law.

As a Muslim-majority country, the laws and regulations of Indonesia still reflect the country’s primarily conservative religious outlook. Even though most of Bali’s residents are Hindu, the Island of Gods is still contemplating the conventional stance of the rest of the nation.
