Bali is ready to host the second ANOC World Beach Games 2023 from August 5–12, according to a Friday, June 10, 2022, announcement from ANOC and the Indonesia Olympic Committee. The XXVII ANOC General Assembly will be held from August 13–15, 2023, following the Games.

A global multi-sport competition developed by ANOC, the ANOC World Beach Games were first held in Qatar in 2019. It is a young and inclusive event that mixes the laid-back energy and excitement of the beach with the top sport to produce hugely appealing tournaments, which is why Bali is the perfect place to host this year ANOC World Beach Games. It is the first international beach, sea, and action sports event geared at young people and was established especially with National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and its athletes in mind.

The World Beach Games give NOCs unparalleled possibilities to interact with new athletes and a new generation of sports enthusiasts since they strongly emphasize youthful, dynamic sports. World Beach Games’ idea is centered on sustainability and accessibility, reducing carbon footprint by utilizing temporary and existing infrastructure and keeping hosting costs low. Athletes from all five continents are guaranteed to compete in this year’s World Beach Games.

It is stated on ANOC official website that Aquathlon, Beach Handball, Beach Soccer, Beach Tennis, Beach Volley 44, Beach Water Polo, Beach Wrestling, Individual Kata, Expression Kiteboarding, and Open Water Swimming 5km are the ten sports that make up the core program of the World Beach Games 2023, which will also include additional sports that have been proposed by the organizing committee and will be confirmed in the upcoming weeks.

“Bali offers some of the most breathtaking beaches in the world, which will provide the best background for great athletic action in 2023,” stated acting ANOC President Robin Mitchell.

“We appreciate the Indonesian government and the Indonesia Olympic Committee’s support and partnership. We are excited to collaborate with them over the coming 15 months to create an event to remember.”

Raja Sapta Oktohari, president of the Indonesia Olympic Committee, continued, “We are happy to advance and showcase Indonesia internationally. We are maximizing our investment in the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games and establishing a legacy of continuous sports development across the country during this historic period for Indonesia’s athletic renaissance.

“It is with great pride that we invite our NOC family with our legendary hospitality, in the most beautiful of backdrops. Combing exciting new sports with the engagement of a new sporting fan base is at the heart of what the Indonesia Olympic Committee wishes to generate. We look forward to welcoming the world to Indonesia. See you in Bali, 2023!”

Bali hosted the first Asian Beach Games of the OCA in 2008 and has the required infrastructure that perfectly complements the environmental concept of ANOC World Beach Games 2023.
