The Bantul Resort Police of Yogyakarta Special Region told people to follow health protocols during the 2023 New Year celebrations to ensure they are protected from COVID-19.

“With COVID-19 not over yet, we hope that by adhering to health protocols, our New Year celebrations will be safe, smooth, and healthy,” Bantul Police Chief Ihsan.

He also mentioned that with the emergence of new variants and increasing cases of COVID-19 in some areas, the possibility of transmission must be taken into account as people become more active during the New Year holidays.

He also appealed to the public to celebrate the New Year with positive activities at home with family. “The new year is momentum for reflection and self-evaluation. I hope we can do it at home. We want people to really take care of themselves and not do anything against the rules if they are about to leave their homes.”

During the celebrations, police will conduct patrols with personnel from the district military command, transport services, and community elements, he said.

East Jakarta

The East Jakarta City Government asked its residents to maintain health protocols while celebrating New Year’s Eve 2023. East Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar said in Jakarta on Wednesday that this was done so that he would not be exposed to COVID-19 cases after the 2023 Christmas and New Year holidays.

“So far, my meeting with the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta has proceeded, as usual, only the health protocol must still be observed because there is a circular from the Minister of Religion, we are level 1 (PPKM), we must pay attention according to level one,” he said.

For New Year’s Eve 2022-2023, the City Government has ensured there will be no fireworks for celebrations. The public is allowed to participate in the fireworks watch conducted by the government, namely in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) and Old Shanghai Sedayu City, Cakung.

Meanwhile, operating hours of all entertainment venues such as malls and cafes are only allowed to be open until 02:00 AM.

However, Anwar did not forget to remind the people to pay attention to health protocols such as wearing masks and providing hand sanitizer.

Prior to the announcement of the closing of the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM), then all parties must continue to implement health protocols so that there is no increase in Covid 19 cases.

PPKM Java and Bali

The government extended the Implementation of Restricting Community Activities (PPKM) ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays. “Today we convey that PPKM for Java Bali and outside Java Bali will continue to be extended to reduce the rate of increase in COVID-19, the government must still make a decision to extend PPKM to restrain the rate of increase in COVID-19, especially ahead of the 2022 Christmas and 2023 New Year holidays (Nataru) ,” said Director General of Territorial Administration Development Safrizal.
