Gianyar Wins Award for the Most Tourism Villages

Gianyar Regency is listed as the local government with the most tourist villages in Indonesia which were included as the winner of the Tourism Village Satya Badge Charter from the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration with the district having 40 tourist villages. 

The award was handed over by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy together with the Minister for Villages, PDT and Transmigration Abdul Halim Iskandar, Minister for Tourism and the creative economy Sandiaga Uno to the Head of PMD Ngakan Ngurah Adi, representing the Gianyar Regent.

The Regent of Gianyar Regency I Made Mahayastra received an award for his dedication and commitment to supporting the 2022 tourism village development program. 

Gianyar Regent explained the award was proof of the development that synergies with the village development. “Our intention is to build the village, advance the village if what we do together is rewarded, that is a bonus and our success together.” Said Regent Mahayastra.

As a tourism area supported by 40 tourist villages, Gianyar Regency has succeeded in pushing seven tourist villages into the top 5 winners of the Archipelagic Tourism Village Promotion Competition (LPDWN) held by the Ministry of Villages and PDTT. 

Out of 7 villages, 5 villages are included in the top 10 namely Sidan village, Taro village, Guwang village, Bakbakan village, and Kendran village.

Regent Mahayastra asked the tourist villages that received awards to maintain the quality of their village tourism. “Maintain the quality, if it can be further improved, as well as other villages, let’s move forward together,” said the Regent Mahayastra.

Tourism Village in Gianyar

Sidan village

Sidan village in Gianyar district is just 4 km from Gianyar city towards Bangli city. If you start from Denpasar, you have to travel about 31 km and you can reach it in 40-60 minutes by car. 

There are also some other objects to explore. First, there are the 17th-century Pura Dalam Sidan, Rice Terraces, Barong Sidan Stage with various Balinese art performances, and Bukit Camplung Temple.

Taro village

Taro Village is the only village in Bali with a sanctuary for white cows, one of the village’s sacred and revered animals. White bulls are a virtuous presence in the region, as they frequently participate in large-scale rituals. You can also see a bamboo grove and a natural hot spring shower and river that can be used for Melukat and self-cleansing.
