Nanga Lok: Winner of API 2022 as “Hidden Paradise”

Teluk Nanga Lok (Nanga Lok Bay), or known as Bukit Cinta, in Golo Lijun Village, Elar District, East Manggarai Regency, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), won first place at the 2022 Anugerah Pesona Indonesia award (API) for the category of Hidden Paradise in Indonesia.

Teluk Nanga Lok won first place after competing with nine other nominations from various destinations in Indonesia.

Teluk Nanga Lok has the most votes, namely 26.09 percent, based on voting results from Wednesday (1/6/2022) to Monday (31/10/2022) through a number of channels, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.

The three tourist attractions ranked in the top three for this category (hidden paradise) are Teluk Nanga Lok, Terujak Falls, and Ulak Lia Lake.

This achievement, according to Albertus Jehamin as Staff of the East Manggarai Regency Tourism and Culture Office, was inseparable from the efforts made by all parties, both the Regional Government and the people of East Manggarai, who intensely cast their votes.

Apart from Teluk Nanga Lok, there are also various other tourist attractions on the north coast of East Manggarai Regency. Some of them are Watu Payung Beach, Pota Beach, Rana Tonjong Lake, Laing Lewe Beach, Nanga Lirang Beach, Teluk Ninge Beach, and SUT Beach.

Teluk Nanga Lok is a bay with a length of up to 2000 meters. This bay is very famous for its beauty. Located in the village of Golo Lijun, Elar District, East Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, this bay is very beautiful and surrounded by charming hills.

Nanga Lok is the result of seawater jutting into the land for about 3 kilometers and a width of about 300-500 meters. 

Apart from the blue and calm water, the expanse of green meadows adds to the beautiful impression of this place. The area around the bay is decorated with mangrove trees and yellow-green savanna (grass) covering the slopes and hills around this bay, further pleasing to the eyes of visitors.

How to Get to Nanga Lok

Access to the location of Teluk Nanga Lok can be reached via two routes. Visitors from Ruteng (the capital of Manggarai district) can be reached in 4 to 5 hours of travel, while from Borong it takes about 5 hours. Your trip to Nanga Lok Bay will pay off with the beautiful view of this hidden paradise. 

You are also strongly advised to be more efficient in managing time before traveling to visit Teluk Nanga Lok. Don’t worry, there is a 4 Tree Villa which is located not far from the Bay location at a very friendly price.
