Air Traffic Increases to 100 Flights at the Highlight of G20

20th October 2022 – The highlight of the G20 Summit is to congest air traffic to and from Bali, according to the prediction. President Director of AirNav Indonesia, Polana B Pramesti, said that they will add less than 70 to 100 flights. This will increase the movement rate to around 140 to 200.

The additional flights are due to 29 heads of the state bringing state aircraft to the G20 Summit in Bali. The other delegates will be using commercial aircraft.

She admitted that the number of airplanes during the highlight of the G20 Summit in Bali is still unknown.

However, she made sure the highlight of the G20 Summit will not affect commercial airplane schedules. The number of commercial planes will decrease during the highlight around 15th to 16th November 2022.

Pramesti explained not all airplanes will be able to park in Bali. She has prepared supporting airports such as Surabaya, Lombok, Yogyakarta, Semarang, and Makassar.

As the highlight of the G20 Summit is drawing closer, several sectors of industries took a few steps ahead in making sure the success of the event. To prevent ‘blindspots’ during the event, Telkomsel as one of the biggest providers strengthened with 39 Base Transceiver Station (BTS) 5G.

The Director of Telkomsel Network, Nugroho, explained that the G20 is held in 15 cities across Indonesia. In these cities including Bali, there are 32 thousand BTS 4G and 5G. With a total of 190 BTS for 5G, approximately 7,800 BTS especially for Bali with 39 5G BTS. In total, BTS throughout Bali reached 7,801 units.

BTS will also anticipate the potential high communication traffic in several areas. This includes lodging areas, main event locations, airports, ports, and tourist destinations.

Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) I, Pahala Nugraha Mansury, announced the readiness of the Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) to support the operation of electric vehicles that will be operating during the G20 Summit.
