Share:

17th October 2022 –The Denpasar-Gilimanuk route has been completely shut down since last Sunday, October 16, 2022. A flash flood  hit a bridge near Mendoyo District, Jembrana that used to connect the road from Penyaringan to Bilukpoh. Beside hitting down the main road, the flood also dunked dozens of houses of residents in the vicinity. Heavy rain in the upper reach of the river on Sunday caused rivers in Jembrana to overflow to the mainland side of the river.

Until this news is announced, joint officers are still trying to carry out evacuation around the location. Report showed large logs still appear to be stuck on the bridge. Dozens of personnel are also still searching the location to carry out monitoring and evacuation effort. Meanwhile, a number of residents whose houses were affected are also trying to secure or save their valuables. Evacuations have been carried out by residents since last night.

According to the latest report, several bridges were collapsed from the Jembrana flash flood and hundreds of houses submerged in high water. The flood that sunk the bridge in Biluk Poh Village, Mendoyo Sub-district caused a temporary shut down on the main access from Denpasar-Gilimanuk due to the its danger. Hundreds of residents also fled to escape the flood, including some by bringing livestock like cows—which are usually tethered near rivers.

The Head of the Jembrana Regional Disaster Management Agency (locally known as BPBD) I Putu Agus Artana Putra urged the residents to evacuate to safer places due to the weather. He also added that the team has gone to disaster-hit locations, and will continue to monitor.

The BPBD team will still continue to collect data regarding the damage of public facilities and houses caused by this flood. Furthermore, coordination with the related organizations is also initiated to accelerate the distribution of assistance to the affected locals.
