16th September 2022 – Indonesia signed an MoU with the Netherlands in Jakarta on Thursday (15/9). The signage is represented by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf), Sandiaga Uno, and the State Secretary for Culture and Media of the Netherlands, Gunay Uslu.

“After a long process, almost four years, we finally signed an MoU between the government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the government of the Republic of Indonesia in the creative economy sector,” said Uno at Gedung Sapta Pesona, Central Jakarta on Thursday.

Uslu also feels the same way and hopes that this collaboration could tighten the bond of both sides.

“I’m happy to be here, [it is] important to sign this MoU to strengthen [our] relationships and partnerships that we have built,” said Uslu.

The MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) contains the workflow of the cooperation between Indonesia and the Netherlands from 17 sub-sectors of the creative economy.

Uno added that he wants more foreign tourists from the Netherlands to visit Indonesia with the base of historical tourism in Indonesia or heritage.

On the other hand, the Tourism Ministry and the Netherlands’ representative have discussed the potential for more collaborations in a number of fields, including films, games, culinary, and technology.

They have decided to focus on three sub-sectors, namely films, games, and one more to be determined in the future. She is interested in developing cooperation for the film industry as it is considered to be effective in creating hundreds of new jobs, starting from the cameraman, sound engineer, actors, producers, and more.

Additionally, she also plans to invite several DJs and event organizers (EO) from the Netherlands to Indonesia, to provide training and assistance to Indonesian event organizers.

“There will be several DJs who will be invited to Indonesia to provide mentoring and training to EOs organizing future events,” said Uno.
