30th August 2022 – The Government has once again extended the Implementation of the Community Activity Restriction (PPKM) in the Java-Bali region. This new regulation is valid starting from Tuesday (30/8) to Monday (5/9).

During the PPKM, all regions and cities within Java-Bali will be in the Level 1 category. This is stated in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 41 of 2022 which was signed by the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian on Monday (29/8).

The Director General (Dirjen) of Regional Administration (Adwil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) Safrizal explained that the PPKM was extended so that the public will remain vigilant about the transmission of Covid-19 in Indonesia. This is aligned with the increasing mobility and recovery of the national economy.

He also mentioned that the decision of Level 1 in the Java-Bali region was based on the considerations and inputs from experts. While also considering the current conditions in the field.

“The decision at the district or city level is guided by the community transmission indicators on the indication of adjustment to public health efforts and social restriction in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, which is determined by the Minister of Health and the consideration of socio-economic conditions of the community,” he said on Tuesday (30/8).

Furthermore, he and his team are actively conveying to every party in the region. From the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), The Indonesian National Police (Polri), and other parties involved to continue enforcing health protocols (prokes).

He also asked regional heads to continue supporting the acceleration of the implementation of the third dose of Covid-19 vaccination or the booster vaccine in a proactive, focused, and coordinated manner. This was asked in the hope to prevent the appearance of new Covid-19 variants in Indonesia.

“Therefore, booster vaccination must continue to be accelerated, as well as the use of the PeduliLindungi application as an effort to carry out close contact tracing,” he concluded.
