Delegates from 19 Nations Attend DEWG G20 in Bali

30th August 2022 – Delegates from 19 nations attend the 4th session of the Digital Economy Working Group of G20 is being held in The Mulia, Nusa Dua, Bali. For their fourth meeting, the DEWG G20 will be held both virtually and physically in Bali. Each delegate can contribute and join discussions of the DEWG for the production of the Bali Package document to be presented at the G20 Summit.

Delegates from 19 nations attending DEWG G20 are Australia, Brasil, Canada, China, European Union, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, USA, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Russia, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. However, Argentina decides to attend the assembly virtually.

Also present were representatives of several international organizations such as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Organization for Economic Cooperation (OECD), and Islamic Development Bank (ISDB). In addition, there are academic representatives or National Knowledge Partner from reputable campuses in Indonesia, such as Universitas Gajah Mada, Universitas Indonesia and Universitas Padjajaran.

The fourth session of the DEWG G20 was chaired by the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Johnny G. Plate. This event is the culmination of the previous DEWG having completed three meetings and several intercession meetings to discuss the three priority issues of the DEWG.

The priority issues discussed by the delegates were connectivity and post Covid-19 recovery, digital literacy, digital talent, and cross-border data flow. The results of this final meeting will later be concluded as the Bali Package.

“I have confidence in our move, in what we have achieved so far. I am sure we will have productive discussions in the next few days and build a declaration that will facilitate the advancement of our digital agenda, support future presidential endeavours and of course, just open up our future cooperation,” said the Minister of Communication and Informatics when opening the fourth session of the DEWG.
