Bogor, 30 March 2024 – A viral video shows the ammunition warehouse of the Indonesian Army’s Field Artillery (Armed TNI) in Kampung Parung Linang, Ciangsana Village, Gunung Putri District, Bogor Regency, on fire. The Bekasi City Fire Department (Damkar) has deployed 3 fire trucks to the location.

“We have dispatched 3 (fire trucks) from the (Disdamkar) City (Bekasi) to the location,” said Haryanto, Danton Pleton B Damkar Kota Bekasi, when contacted on Saturday, 30 March, 2024 evening.

Although they have assisted, he said that firefighters have not been able to extinguish the fire because the explosions at the location are still quite large. Therefore, the fire will be extinguished after it is deemed safe.

“It is suspected that eight bunkers exploded in the incident. Not only that, the impact of the explosion also spread to the housing estates of Kota Wisata cluster Nebraska, Visalia, Mississippi, and Miami,” he explained further.

Meanwhile, the Commander of the Jaya/Jayakarta Military Command, Major General TNI Mohamad Hasan, ensured that there were no casualties in the fire that occurred at the ammunition warehouse in Kampung Parung Pinang, Ciangsana Village, Gunung Putri District, Bogor Regency.

“So far, we have checked the entire location, there are no casualties in the direction of the settlement,” Hasan told reporters at the location, on Saturday evening.

Warehouse Location Near Residential

Brigadier General TNI Kristomei said the location of the warehouse is in the middle of a densely populated area. The nearest residential area is less than one kilometre from the scene of the incident.

Therefore, Kristomei said that officers are focused on evacuating and securing residents while waiting for the situation to be conducive until firefighters can start approaching.

Meanwhile, several netizens’ uploads show grenade fragments around Cluster Visalia, Kota Wisata, West Java, which are suspected to have come from the ammunition warehouse belonging to Kodam Jaya on the border between Bogor and Bekasi Regency, Saturday (30/3).

A journalist, M. Bakrie, said that after hearing a large explosion, several residents found fragments suspected of being explosives or grenades. The fragments have now been handed over to the Indonesian Army (TNI AD) for investigation.

How It Started

According to him, the incident started at 18.05 WIB. At that time, smoke was found coming from ammunition warehouse number 6. After being traced, the smoke was found to be an explosion. Ammunition warehouse number 6 contained expired ammunition that was estimated to be more than 10 years old.

He added that the expired ammunition was a return from various units served throughout the Kodam Jakarta area and that there were 160,000 types of explosives.

Although there have been no casualties reported, Hasan still appealed to residents around the area to continue to protect themselves to avoid unwanted things.
