There was something quite interesting about the Social Service Activities Bhayangkari Peduli led by the Chairperson of the Bali Regional Bhayangkari at Yeh Gangga Beach, Sudimara Village, Tabanan District on Thursday 24th of August 2023 since a few foreign volunteers can be seen working together with the local NGOs to clean the beach.

Apart from being attended by administrators and members of Bhayangkara Bali and Tabanan, this activity was also carried out with the community around Yeh Gangga Beach and the beach lover community; many foreign tourists also attended this activity.

These foreign tourists are indeed on vacation in Bali. However, apart from having a vacation, these foreign tourists also participate in volunteer activities through the Akasa Tabanan Foundation, the organiser of the voluntourism programme.

The Head of the Public Relations Section of the Tabanan Police said that the social services carried out to clean up the beach involve foreign volunteers from the Tabanan Akasa Foundation. “Ten foreign volunteers are involved in beach cleaning activities at Yeh Gangga Beach today,” he explained.

The head of Public Relations for the Tabanan Police stated that the involvement of foreign volunteers had indeed been scheduled.

In addition, these foreign volunteers have an agenda and a clear schedule for the social activities they will carry out while volunteering in Tabanan.

Meanwhile, Founder Ni Ketut Sri Ariani, Head of the Akasa Tabanan Foundation, said that this beach cleaning activity is indeed part of the programme of the Akasa Tabanan Foundation.

“Cleaning the Beach is one of the projects we provide for programmes they can take while participating in our voluntourism programme,” explained Ariani.

Ariani explained that voluntourism, or Volunteer tourism, empowers and develops community-based tourism. In this programme, there is an element of tourist involvement to contribute actively to tourism development by relying on their abilities and social spirit.

This voluntourism trend is increasingly supported by the awareness of many people that eco-tourism or green tourism, should be a new mode of tourism that must be followed. With the worsening of the earth’s condition and the increasingly damaged nature, eco-tourism brings a new vacation alternative where tourists can not only take vacations to exotic places around the world but also have a good impact on nature, such as the ten foreign volunteers who are currently participating in the programme. volunteer by the Akasa Tabanan Foundation.
