Winner at Indonesia Marathon Yet to Receive Prize

31st August 2022 – Jack Ahearn, an Australian runner that participated in the Indonesia International Marathon 2022, has yet to receive his prize. The Indonesia International Marathon 2022 was held in Bali on 26th June.

From the official website of the marathon, the Indonesia International Marathon is a competition with World Athletics-AIMS standards initiated by KONI.

The Australian man, Jack Ahearn, is the winner of the Male International category with a record time of 3 hours 30 minutes, and 48 seconds. As the winner of the competition, Jack Ahearn earned the prize of IDR 150 million, as written in the charter he showed.

However, he has yet to receive the prize money. This is told through his Instagram account.

“I won this prize but the [marathon] has failed to make payment to me and all other international winners,” quoted Jack Ahearn’s InstaStory.

According to the Australian runner, his number is blocked, and does not respond for two months.

After the post went viral on Twitter and Instagram, the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) spoke out about the matter. KONI explained that the Indonesia International Marathon 2022 is a product of KONI Center and PT. Tata Media Prima/TMP (The Media Palace) collaboration. Which, one of KONI’s roles was to support TMP’s obligations, which was to raise funds for various needs.

KONI further explained that the prize for Foreign Runners marathon winner, Jack Ahearn, has been transferred IDR 47,5 million to the bank account stated in the agreed terms and conditions (after tax).

Furthermore, winners in the Indonesia International Marathon 2022 received prize money in accordance with the terms. The prize for Foreign Runners has been transferred on 23rd August 2022. For Indonesian runners, prizes have been transferred on early July 2022.

Secretary General of Central KONI, Drs. Tb. Lukman Djajadikusuma, said that KONI will find a way to resolve this issue immediately with related parties, especially the organizers, PT. Tata Media Prima.
