On Sunday, the 4th of June, 2023, SW (22) and TK (30), two Russian citizens, were involved in a motorbike accident on Jalan Benoa Harbour in South Denpasar, Bali. The incident was verified by AKP I Ketut Sukadi, the Denpasar Police’s Head of Public Relations.

Sukadi claims the incident started while the two Russians, SW and TK travelled north to south at the same speed. SW was driving a motorbike with the license plate DK 5585 FBO, and TK was riding a motorbike with DK 2364 KBB license plate.

On Sunday, the 4th of June 2023, Sukadi told the local reporters, “The DK 5585 FBO motorbike rider and the DK 2364 KBB motorbike rider, both of whom are  Russians, were engaged in a fatal accident.”

“Both of them move at the same speed and are quite close to each other, riding their motorbikes from north to south,” added Sukadi.

At that time, SW, who was behind TK, was about to overtake TK, and in the blink of an eye, the deadly accident happened to both Russians.

“The two tourists from Russia collided when SW was about to overtake TK, so that the fatal accident could not be avoided,” said Sukadi.

As a result of the accident, TK suffered injuries on his stomach and the right side of his body, but he was not treated or referred to a hospital. Meanwhile, another Russian citizen, SW, died on the spot before the police and ambulance could assist.

“The SW victim suffered a severe head injury and died on the spot,” concluded Sukadi.

The Bali Police reminded all foreign tourists to be careful and explained that the impact of driving without knowing traffic signs and driving the motorbike carelessly can be fatal.

Last month, the Bali Police disclosed data that the Russians still hold the most traffic offenders in Bali. Sukadi underlined that the strict steps taken by the Bali police in arranging motorbike rentals and permits to drive in Bali were taken for the safety of the tourists themselves.
