TransJakarta Added More Routes for Christmas and New Year

According to DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, TransJakarta is increasing frequency and routes to the capital’s tourist attractions in anticipation of a potential surge in passenger numbers during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

“We are working with TransJakarta to increase the number of buses and operating hours during the Christmas celebrations,” said Head of the DKI Jakarta Service Syafrin Liputo.

The addition of the TransJakarta route to the tourist spot, namely the 4H Pulo Gadung 2-Ragunan route, 13D Puri Beta-Ragunan, 5H Harmoni-Ancol, 7D Kampung Rambutan (TMII)-Pancoran.

In addition, this route will provide transportation services to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah in East Jakarta, Taman Impian Jaya Angkor in North Jakarta, and Ragunan Wildlife Park in South Jakarta.

Not only that, but TransJakarta will also add five tour buses that will be operating on the New Jakarta route serving the Istiqlal-HI roundabout and Skyscraper namely IRTI-Senayan Roundabout during Christmas and New Year from 25 December to 8 January 2023.

Extra Buses on Christmas Eve to New Year

DKI Jakarta’s state-owned enterprise (BUMD), PT Transportasi Jakarta (Trans Jakarta) has increased the number of bus fleets during Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Transjakarta Director of Operations and Safety, Yoga Adiwinarto, said in Jakarta. That his party will add around 60 buses with placements at a number of crowded points on Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

 “We will add at least 60 buses, we will also monitor the situation,” said Yoga.

Yoga has added a few locations that are likely to be crowd focus during Christmas and New Year, including Taman Mini, HI Roundabout, Ragunan, and Ancol.

Yoga said the increase in the number of fleets would complement the TransJakarta buses which operate regularly on Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

“In total, around 70-80 buses run at night,” said Yoga.

TransJakarta 24 hours on New Year`s Eve

TransJakarta operations remain 24 hours the whole day on New Year’s the plan is to adjust the route and to observe the conditions in the field during the implementation of motorized vehicle-free in Sudirman-Thamrin Road.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Mass Rapid Transportation (MRT) service will be operated until  02.00 WIB.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has implemented seven locations for New Year’s Eve celebrations to reduce overcrowding visitors so as not to accumulate at one point.

The seven locations are the peak of activities at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Thamrin 10 in Jakarta Center, North Jakarta and West Jakarta Mayor’s Office, Setu Babakan in South Jakarta, Old Shanghai in East Jakarta and Untung Jawa Island on the Thousand Islands.
