A video capturing a traffic accident has surfaced on Instagram, shared by the account @merekamjakarta. The viral footage depicts two severely damaged vehicles, one of which is a Ferrari, leading to a heated altercation on 8 October, 2023.

The incident unfolded on Jenderal Sudirman Street near Bundaran Senayan, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Sunday, September 8, 2023, around 04:00 AM, as described in the accompanying narrative of the video.

The shared post identified the wrecked vehicles as a sports car and a motorcycles. “The altercation is believed to have occurred because several motorcyclists were unhappy about being hit by the sports car,” it explained.

Confirmation of the incident came from the Head of the Sub-Directorate of Law Enforcement at the Traffic Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Jhoni Eka Putra. He verified the occurrence, stating that it happened at Bundaran Senayan, approximately 03:30 AM.

In an official statement provided by Jhoni, the accident involved a Ferrari sedan driven by an individual with the initials RAS and a Toyota Avanza minibus or taxi driven by IH. Additionally, a Brio car driven by PM, a Beat motorcycle ridden by DP, a Benelli Sport motorcycle ridden by RJC, and a Verza motorcycle driven by BP were also part of the collision.

Jhoni explained that the accident started with the Ferrari, driven by RAS, heading from the north to the south on Jenderal Sudirman Street. Approaching just before Bundaran Senayan, presumably due to lack of concentration, it collided with five other stationary vehicles waiting at a red traffic light.

At that moment, the vehicles it collided with were stationary due to the red traffic light. “The motorcyclist Binelli, RCH, suffered a sprained leg and abrasions on the groin, while the passenger on the Verza motorcycle sustained bruising and contusions,” said Jhoni on Sunday, October 8, 2023.

Both injured parties were transported to the Muhammadiyah Taman Puring Hospital in South Jakarta.

The Ferrari driver, identified as RA, was later declared a suspect after a police case review. RA, a private employee, is charged under Article 310 Paragraph 2 of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transportation.

As of now, according to Jhoni, RA is undergoing further examination by investigators. Jhoni revealed from the initial interrogation that RA was drowsy while driving the red Ferrari. Police are currently confirming whether the suspect was driving under the influence of alcohol. Witnesses testified that the suspect did consume alcohol before the incident, but the results of the urine test will be announced later.
