The anticipated collaboration between TikTok Shop X Tokopedia is set to launch on 12 December 2023. Following ByteDance’s investment infusion of $1.5 billion at the end of November 2023, the merger between these e-commerce giants has been officially confirmed.

The partnership, known as TikTok Shop X Tokopedia, will be an active participant in the 12.12 campaign, entering into competition with numerous other e-commerce platforms across Indonesia. According to the report from GoTo Financial, the collaboration between TikTok and GoTo aims to extend advantages to Indonesian MSMEs, assisting in the growth of their businesses.

On December 12, 2023, TikTok Shop X Tokopedia will launch its inaugural campaign named “Beli Lokal” within the TikTok app. This campaign allows all users to explore and purchase their preferred local products seamlessly.

Over 90% of the merchants joining TikTok Shop X Tokopedia are local Indonesians. Starting from 11 December 2023, sellers can efficiently manage their product portfolios using the Seller Center, while customers gain access to shopping options through the Shop Tab, short videos, and Live sessions directly within the TikTok app.

The collaboration between Tokopedia and TikTok gained significant attention starting in mid-November 2023. Reports from Bloomberg indicated ByteDance’s determination to revive TikTok Shop (TTS) following its official cessation on 13 October 2023.

Projections indicate a substantial increase in collaboration between these e-commerce giants in the first quarter of 2024, potentially fostering the creation of millions of jobs within the next five years.

Patrick Walujo, serving as GoTo’s CEO, is dedicated to expanding Indonesia’s digital economy and targeting the growth of the market for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). To support this investment, GoTo and TikTok have engaged Goldman Sachs as their financial advisors.
