Suicide Bombing in Bandung: 1 Killed and 3 People Injured

Police Headquarters confirmed that the explosion at the Astanaanyar Police Headquarters in Bandung was a suicide bombing. The police said that the suicide bomber was dead.

“The suspected suicide bomber died,” said Karo Penmas Divhumas Polri, Brigjen Ahmad Ramadhan, on Wednesday (7/12/2022).

Previously, the National Police confirmed that there was a bomb explosion at the Astana Anyar Police Headquarters, Bandung. Now Densus 88 Anti-terror Police have been at the location to conduct an investigation.

“Densus 88 investigators are at the location of the Astana Anyar Bandung Police, to carry out investigations to collect information and process the TKP,” said Densus 88 Anti-terror Operations Assistance Section (Kabagbanops) Head Kombes Aswin Siregar on Wednesday (7/12/2022).

Aswin added, his party needed time to trace the debris at the location. He also asked the public to remain calm.

“It takes time to ensure the pieces of the found material,” he said.

“Please take time and remain calm. Once again Densus 88 is working quickly to investigate this incident. An official statement will be conveyed later through the Public Relations of Republic Indonesia Police (Polri),” he added.

Kapolrestabes Bandung, Kombes Aswin Sipayung, said at 08.20 WIB, members of the Astana Anyar Police were holding a morning call. Suddenly, a man entered the Astana Anyar Police Headquarters, brandishing a sharp weapon and breaking into the morning assembly line. Instantly the members dodged. 

“Then there was an explosion. Now the perpetrator died in the lobby. Three of our members were injured,” said Aswin.
