Starlux Airlines to Launch Direct Taipei–Bali Flights Starting October 2026

Starlux Airlines has announced the launch of a new direct route connecting Taipei and Bali, scheduled to begin on 1 October 2026. The announcement was made on Wednesday (8 April 2026), with tickets already available for purchase.

According to a report by the Central News Agency (CNA), the airline confirmed that the route will initially operate five times per week. The service will use the Airbus A321neo, a latest-generation narrow-body aircraft.

In a press release, the airline stated that the new route forms part of its broader regional expansion strategy. Following the launch, Starlux will serve more than 13 destinations across Southeast Asia.

Expansion Strategy Targets Transit Passengers

Starlux Chief Executive Officer Glenn Chai said Bali remains a key destination in the global tourism market. He noted its popularity among travellers from Taiwan and Western countries.

“Bali has long been a popular destination among global travellers and is a well-established tourism market both in Taiwan and in Western countries,” Chai said.

He added that the airline aims to strengthen its role as a transit hub by linking long-haul routes with regional destinations.

“With the airline’s long-haul route expansion to North America and Europe, Starlux hopes to reach more Western travellers transiting through Taiwan to Bali, thereby further increasing passenger traffic between Europe, the United States, and Southeast Asia,” he said, as quoted by Liputan6.

In addition to the Bali route, the airline plans to open new services to Busan, South Korea, starting 1 June, and Prague, Czech Republic, from 1 August. These routes mark its continued expansion into Northeast Asia and Europe.

Skytrax Awards Five-Star Airline Rating

Earlier, Starlux Airlines received a Five-Star Airline certification from Skytrax, an international aviation rating organisation. The certification places the airline among 11 carriers worldwide to receive the distinction.

The rating followed an audit process conducted by Skytrax, which assessed various aspects of the airline’s service and operations.

“Receiving the 5-Star Airline award is a tremendous honour and encouragement for everyone at Starlux. We began operations in 2020, so achieving this milestone highlights the resilience and spirit of our team,” Chai said in a statement issued on 31 December 2025.

Starlux Airlines commenced operations in 2020 and has since expanded its network across Asia and beyond. The addition of the Taipei–Bali route reflects its continued effort to grow its presence in key tourism and transit markets.
