The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kanwil Kemenkumham) Bali stepped in to respond to the beating of a fellow foreign citizen (WNA) from Russia on Jalan Dewi Sri, Kuta, Bali.

Based on the investigation, the start of the assault was due to a problem between two Russians, AR, and AA.

The Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Bali, Anggiat Napitupulu, said that one of the witnesses, with the initials HYP, explained that AR felt scammed by AA during a money exchange transaction from Rubel to US Dollar.

AR, along with his friends, met AA in a restaurant at Dewi Sri Food Center around 6:00 PM WITA. In that meeting, both agreed to exchange Rubel for US dollars. Next, AR asked his mother in Russia to transfer 280,000 Rubel to AA’s bank account in exchange for US Dollar

Anggiat said that after the money is successfully transferred to AA’s bank account, AA is reluctant to give US Dollars money to AR. AA attempted to flee however, he got assaulted as such in the viral video.

The police were quick to arrive at the location and secured AA from the wrath of several people who supported AR.

Anggiat added that the Kanwil Kemenkumham has yet to make a decision regarding two foreign citizens from Russia as it’s still in the process of law in Polsek Kuta. Based on a statement by Polsek Kuta, AR and AA are currently undergoing mediation to solve the issue peacefully.
