8th September 2022 – Through the Ministry of Transportation, the Government has officially set a new online ojek fares after the fuel oil price hike. The new fares will be effective three days from the date of its stipulation or 10th September.

The decision to raise the online ojek fares has been postponed for quite a while. The Ministry of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, has clarified the steps the Ministry has taken to handle the impact of the fuel oil price hike in the transportation sector.

Additionally, it is done following the announcement of the implementation policy of diverting fuel subsidies to more targeted assistance by President Joko Widodo on Saturday (3/9).

In order for the implementation to go smoothly, Sumadi has asked the Director General of Road Transportation, Hendro Sugiatno to keep communicating with online ojek drivers and applicators.

Sugiatno said that the adjustment of online ojek fares is done with the consideration of fuel oil price, regional minimum wage (UMR), and other service calculations.

There will also be changes in the rental application fee to 15 percent, which was previously set at 20 percent.

The new online ojek fares are set in three zones, with the first zone covering Sumatra, and Java, except Jabodetabek and Bali. The second zone is Jabodetabek and the third zone covers Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara, Maluku and Papua.
