Malaysian Man Deported After 10 Years Prison Time

August 8, 2022 – A foreign man from Malaysia with the initial HKS (49) is deported by Denpasar Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim). He is deported after going through 10 years of prison time in Class II A Prison in Kerobokan, Badung for the smuggling of methamphetamine from Bangkok to Bali.

Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kakanwil Kemenkumham) Bali, Anggiat Napitupulu, said that the Malaysian man has been freed from Class II A Prison in Kerobokan, Badung based on the Release Letter Number W20.PAS.EDP.PK.01.02-129, on July 6, 2022.

Before the Malaysian man was arrested by the Customs officers in the arrival terminal of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on March 19, 2012.

At that time, he had just landed from Bangkok using Free Visit Visa (BVK) with Air Asia FD 3677.

On August 12, 2012, the Denpasar District Court (PN) panel of judges sentenced the man who was born in Selangor, Malaysia, to 13 years in prison and a fine of IDR 10 billion, subsidiary to three months in prison.

The Malaysian Man was declared to have violated Article 113 paragraph 2 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. He has proven to have smuggled 169 grams of methamphetamine.

Napitupulu said that as of now, HKS only served 10 years in prison after receiving various remissions from his basic criminal code. After being released, the Malaysian man was put in the Denpasar Rudenim while waiting for the deportation process.

She also revealed that HKS has been deported through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Friday (5/8) using Malindo Air with flight number OD305 to Denpasar (DPS) to Kuala Lumpur (KUL) which took off at 01:05 WITA.

Napitupulu added that HKS would be added to the deterrence list at the Directorate General of Immigration. It is based on Article 99 Jo 102 Paragraph 3 of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration. It states that foreigners who are considered to potentially disturb the security and public order of Immigration officials can impose lifelong deterrence.
