Java Jazz Festival 2025 Announces Line-Up: From Raye to Jacob Collier

The Jakarta International BNI Java Jazz Festival 2025 has officially announced the line-up of musicians who will perform, including Raye, at its 20th special edition, which will be held at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, from May 30 to June 1, 2025.

One of the performers in this remarkable series of well-known and talented musicians is Lee Ritenour, a legendary jazz guitarist from the United States.

Lee Ritenour’s appearance at Java Jazz this year will mark his sixth appearance in Indonesia, having previously performed in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2013, and 2018. Ritenour is well-known for his hit songs such as “Is It You” and “I Can’t Let Go”.

In addition to Ritenour, several international musicians will also grace the stage at Java Jazz this year.

These include UMI, an American R&B and soul singer; Tontrakul, a Thai music producer known for his ethnic-electronic style; and Tara Lily, a British singer with influences from jazz, hip-hop, and South Asian culture.

The festival will take place at JIExpo, Kemayoran, Jakarta, with 11 stages spread across the venue. As always, it will feature a mix of international and Indonesian musicians from various genres.

Further information and updates regarding additional performers will be announced in the near future.

Three Big Names on the Special Show Stage

The 20th anniversary of the Java Jazz Festival will be even more vibrant with the presence of three big names on the Special Show stage. The first is Raye, a British singer-songwriter who has recently been in the spotlight after performing at the 2025 Grammy Awards.

With a musical style that blends R&B, pop, jazz, and soul, Raye has been known since the release of her debut album My 21st Century Blues in 2023, which received wide acclaim.

The second name is Tunde Baiyewu, the vocalist of Lighthouse Family, a British band popular in the 1990s. His distinctive voice on songs like “High” and “Lifted” made him one of the most anticipated musicians at the festival.

Meanwhile, Jacob Collier, known for his distinctive modern jazz touch, will also take the stage. The multi-instrumentalist is famous for his complex and innovative musical arrangements and has won several Grammy Awards.

Interestingly, Raye’s appearance at the BNI Java Jazz Festival 2025 has been eagerly anticipated since last year. President Director of Java Festival Production, Dewi Gontha, revealed that negotiations with international musicians are not always easy.

“Because Indonesia is not always the first country they want to visit. They are usually based in the UK, so they prioritise the UK or North America first, then look to Asia,” said Dewi when met after a press conference in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
