Jakarta Library at TIM Jakarta to Open for Public

July 12, 2022 — The Jakarta Library at TIM, Perpustakaan Umum Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), is once again open to the public. In order to enter the library, visitors have to register themselves via the internet first. Irfan, the Jakarta Public Library Public Relations, said that the number of visitors will be limited to 300 per day with operating hours starting from 9 AM WIB.

“We are opening 300 quotas to fill in. If there’s a visitor that exit the library, the next on the queue can register and enter,” said Irfan on Tuesday (12/7).

Visitors can also register on the spot in the main room. But they won’t be able to if the quota has reached the maximum of 300 visitors.

Jakarta Library Facilities

Jakarta Library, or known as Perpustakaan Jakarta, is a four-story library with a wide space of one hectare. The Jakarta Library’s exact location is on the fourth, fifth, and sixth floor of Gedung Panjang, at the same location as the Pusat Dokumen Sastra (PDS) HB Jassin or the HB Jassin Literary Document Center (PDS). It offers public reading rooms that match the different characteristics of its visitors. In the reading room, visitors are given the option to sit on a chair or on the floor.

On the fourth floor, not only does it have a different variety of books and reading materials but also an outdoor and indoor playroom for toddlers and kids. A room for private reading or research is also provided for those who want to have their own space inside the library with a maximum of two persons in one room.

There are 138,000 collections in Perpustakaan Jakarta and 4,395 collections in PDS HB Jassin. The Jakarta Library also offers different collections of general books, children’s books, a collection relevant to Jakarta, and other books according to the needs of the community.
