Apple’s latest smartphone, the series, has officially received its Domestic Component Level (TKDN) certification from Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin), marking a crucial step towards its release in the country.

The certification was issued on Thursday, 11 September 2025, and announced publicly the following day.

“Four TKDN certificates have been issued for iPhone 17 products, each with a different type from PT Apple Indonesia, on Thursday, 11 September 2025,” stated the TKDN certificate issuance announcement received by CNNIndonesia.com on Friday, 12 September.

The announcement confirmed that each model achieved a TKDN value of 40 per cent.

A similar statement was also shared with CNBC Indonesia, confirming that four model codes were certified: A3523, A3526, A3520, and A3517.

Models A3523 and A3526 refer to the and , while A3520 denotes the basic iPhone 17 model and A3517 represents the new , which replaces the previous Plus variant.

Heru Kustanto, Head of the Centre for the Promotion of Domestic Product Use (P3DN) at the Ministry of Industry, explained that the certification clears the way for the devices to enter the Indonesian market. “Yes, by early October it should be finalised, insha’Allah. At the latest, two weeks from now,” he said at the Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Industry in South Jakarta, as quoted by CNNIndonesia.

Heru added that after TKDN approval, Apple must still obtain distribution permits.

“Yes, they usually handle distribution permits, after TKDN, the postel certificate,” he said, noting that achieving the 40 per cent TKDN threshold was consistent with Apple’s earlier commitment. “Yes, 40 per cent achieved. The same as before, in February, right. Still part of the same package as the previous investment. Still valid for three years,” he explained.

Although Apple officially introduced the iPhone 17 series globally on Tuesday, 9 September 2025, the exact sales schedule for Indonesia has yet to be confirmed.

Apple’s official distributor in Indonesia, iBox, has stated that preparations have been made, but the management of parent company Erajaya Digital has not announced a launch date.

The Ministry of Industry previously estimated that sales could begin as early as October 2025. If achieved, this would avoid the delays experienced by the series, which only reached Indonesia in April this year due to certification issues.

Apple’s new iPhone line includes the iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17 Pro, with the Air replacing the previous Plus model. The iPhone 17 is powered by Apple’s new third-generation A19 chip, built on a 3nm process.

Apple states that this chip delivers 1.5 times faster CPU performance and twice the GPU performance of the older A15 Bionic. It also includes a neural accelerator in each GPU core, enabling on-device generative AI processing.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max use the A19 Pro chip and feature three 48 MP cameras along with professional video capabilities such as ProRes RAW and Apple Log 2. Apple describes these as their most reliable iPhones to date.

In the global market, Apple has set the iPhone 17 series at prices ranging from US$799 to US$1,099, equivalent to approximately Rp13.16 million to Rp18.10 million based on an exchange rate of Rp16,470 per US dollar.

The breakdown is as follows: iPhone 17 at US$799 (Rp13.16 million), iPhone Air at US$999 (Rp16.45 million), and iPhone 17 Pro at US$1,099 (Rp18.10 million).
