Immigration Has Issued 71,001 Residence Permits Throughout 2022

TPI Ngurah Rai Special Class Immigration Office, Bali, issued 71,001 residence permits for foreign nationals living in Bali throughout 2022.

Numbers state that the nationality with the most foreigners applying for residence permits in Bali throughout the year 2022, that being said sums up to 29,762 people, although Bali also has foreigners from Australia 8,219 people, Germany 7,434 people, France 6,547 people, and England 6,516 people, registered for the residence permits throughout 2022.

“The total 71,001 residence permits issued by Ngurah Rai Immigration, details of 42,311 are Visit Stay Permits. (ITK), 22,346 Visit Visa Extensions on Arrival (VKSK), 3,831 Limited Stay Permits (ITAS), and 410 Stay Permits Permanent (ITAP),” said the Head of the Class 1 Immigration Office (Kanim) for TPI Ngurah Rai Special, Sugito as quoted from broadcast

Not only issuing residence permits, but Ngurah Rai Immigration 2022 will also provide 133 Affidavit services, 1531 Exit Permit Only (EPO), and 439 Non-Return MERP/ERP.

The definition of the Affidavit service is the issuance of RI passports for children with dual citizenship, while Exit Permit Only (EPO) is a document that is taken care of by foreign nationals holding ITAS/ITAP who wish to end their stay or apply for a new visa.

Lastly, MERP/ERP (Exit Re-entry Permit/ Multiple Exit Re-Permit) is a document that must be pocketed by KITAS holders if they are going to leave Indonesia and never come back. However, if they decide to return, they are required to apply for a new visa.

With that being said, according to the Ngurah Rai Immigration report in 2022, no foreigner has applied for a second home residence permit/visa (second home visa).

The second home visa service is one of the government’s efforts to recruit foreign nationals who are considered to have the potential to invest in or build a business in Indonesia.

“Please enter with a limited stay visa while thinking about (investment opportunities, ed.). Therefore, we need proof of ownership of such a large amount of funds so that if he does linger in Indonesia, he should not be absent. The money is for living,” said the Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Anggiat Napitupulu.

Foreign visitors to Bali increased by 60,000

TPI Ngurah Rai Special Class 1 Immigration Department reports foreigners’ visits to Bali. Stating that air traffic in 2022 increased more than 60,000 times compared to arrivals in 2021. Sugito, Director General of  TPI Ngurah Rai Special Class 1 Immigration Department, said that in 2022, he already predicted 2,176,004 foreigners to arrive at Bali’s Gusting Lai International Airport, and in 2021, the airmail alone was just 34 people.

“The number of arrivals from foreigners passing through Ngurah Rai Airport has increased by 6,399,911.76 percent, also an increase of 60,000 times more than in the year of 2021. The increase in the number is in line with the immigration policy issued by the government in efforts to recover the national economy and support the tourism sector,” said Sugito

Sugito added that throughout 2022 there were 1,739,303 foreigners who entered Indonesia using visa on arrival (visa on arrival/VOA) or electronic VOA (e-VOA).

Even so, the number of foreigners arriving in Bali in 2022 has not reached the figure as much as in 2019 or the past before the Covid-19 pandemic, which exceeded more than 6,206,884 people.
