August 7, 2022 – The Soekarno-Hatta Special Class I Immigration Office oversees the extradition process of a foreign citizen (WNA) from Hungary named Robert Hovath (46).

Head of the Immigration Office Class I Special TPI Soekarno-Hatta Muhammad Tito Andrianto said that Robert will be departed using a Qatar Airways with flight number QR 955 on Friday (5/8) at 00:10 WIB.

He will depart from Soekarno-Hatta Airport Terminal 3, Tangerang, Banten.

According to Andrianto, Robert is a wanted fugitive by the Hungarian government.

“Robert has proven to have committed the felony of theft for valuable items that were done repetitively,” said Andrianto on Friday.

Robert has also proven to attempt felony theft of small items and thievery in Hungary.

Indonesia’s Government then granted the Hungarian Government’s extradition request.

The policy is enshrined in the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 7 of 2022 dated May 31 and the Letter of the Deputy Assistant

Legal Administration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia Number R-60/D1/AH/HK.07/06/2022 dated June 8, 2022.

Andrianto explains that Robert is arrested by the Indonesian National Police on March 13, 2021. Then, the detention of the foreigner was carried out at the Polda Metro Jaya detention centre. The government granted the extradition request after the trial process against Robert was completed.

“The handover [of Robert Hovath] that was done today proved the high commitment of Indonesia’s Government to actively participate in eradicating transnational crimes through international cooperation in the field of extradition,” said the Head of the Immigration Office Class I Special TPI Soekarno-Hatta.

He also added that Indonesia’s Government will continuously make sure to fulfil its international responsibility in cooperation between countries.

Additionally, this is the second extradition request done by the Hungarian Government to the Indonesian Government.

Back in 2011, the Indonesian Government has done extradition of Eva Horvath to Hungary in regard to the felony of fraud and embezzlement.
