The Denpasar City Government has a unique way of inviting people to enjoy the charms of Bali’s capital city, by going on a horse ride or known as “Dokar” on a sightseeing city tour.

“This city horse ride from 10th to 17th December 2022 is free of charge and without any special conditions. The city government already prepared eight coachmen that will be stationed at two locations, Badung Market and Tegal Terminal at Imam Bonjol Street.” said The Denpasar City Government Public Relations and Protocol, I Dewa Gede Ray.

He added that drivers and coachmen must wear middle-aged traditional dress, especially to tourists, to demonstrate the merits of traditional Balinese dress.

Horse ride is a traditional mode of transportation that still exists in Denpasar. Some people still use Horse rides, especially housewives when shopping at traditional markets.

In order to make Horse ride not eroded by the era of globalization, efforts to resurrect this mode of transportation continue to be made.

This free horse ride program was formerly run by the City of Denpasar and is valid every Saturday and Sunday. To increase public and tourist interest, the Denpasar City Tourism Board also organized a Heritage City Tour.

The head of the Denpasar City Tourism Board, Desiree Mulyani, said the city tour horse ride will be four at Badung Market and four at Regal Terminal, operating from 9 am to 4 pm.

From Badung Market head to Catur Muka, Surapati Road, Sugianyar Road, Beliton Road, Hasanuddin Road, and back to Badung Market.

Members of the public or tourists wishing to ride the horse cart must first sign an identification card on a book near the cart parking lot. After that, the tourist must wait for their turn to join the horse cart city tour.

The Government Pays Attention to The Horse’s Health

The Denpasar City Agriculture Department Animal Health Team conducted a health check on the horses at the Dokar City Tour Base in Merdeka Building. This activity is done regularly to ensure the health of the horses.

The Head of the animal health department of the Denpasar City Agriculture Department, I Made Ngurah Sugiri, said regular health checks on horses are important. It is important not only to ensure the health of horses but also to enhance the comfort of horse service users.

“We have a total of eight horses, all declared healthy and available for the Dokar City Tour,” he said.

Sugiri hopes the health of the horses will make Denpasar city tour services more optimal and attract tourists visiting the city of Denpasar.
