Golden Visa: New Type of Visa for Talented Foreigners

Share:

The Golden Visa, which is a derivative of the Second Home Visa, is said to be a new breakthrough in welcoming Foreign Citizens (WNA) whose talents can contribute to the national economy.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno said the Golden Visa policy was a red carpet for foreigners who wanted to invest in Indonesia’s economic development.

“We will give special talent investors and industry players who want to invest for the development of Indonesia’s economy towards advanced Indonesia,” said Sandiaga in the Weekly Press Briefing of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy at the Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, Monday, 16th January 2023.

If the Second Home Visa is given to foreigners who want to make Indonesia their second home for 5-10 years, then the Golden Visa is given specifically to talented foreigners, in the digital, health and investment fields.

Golden Visa Purpose

It is reported that the Golden Visa will be launched shortly and will be announced directly by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham).

“The Ministry of Law and Human Rights will later announce this Golden Visa, but its feature is to attract more foreign investors to Indonesia,” said Sandiaga.

Previously, to attract more foreign tourists, and achieve the target of 7.4 million foreign tourist visits to Indonesia, the government also launched an Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VoA) scheme in November 2022.

This visa scheme is an innovation that makes it easier for foreign tourists to make VoA payments before arriving in Indonesia.

Sandiaga and the newly appointed Director General of Immigration, Silmy Karim, have also visited Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to ensure that the electronic visa on arrival (e-VoA) service runs quickly and well.

“We have made a direct visit with the new Directorate General of Immigration to Soekarno-Hatta Airport, and we are sure that fast service at the airport, especially concerning e-VoA, will further enhance its socialization,” he concluded.
