Fight in Canggu: Viral Video Captures Foreigners in Alleged Row Over a Woman

A viral video showing a fight between several foreign nationals in Canggu, Bali, is being investigated by police after the incident reportedly stemmed from a misunderstanding involving a woman.

The altercation took place in the parking area of Batu Bolong Beach in Canggu Village, North Kuta District, Badung Regency. Footage of the incident, which involved four foreigners exchanging punches, quickly circulated across social media platforms.

According to police, the dispute occurred after two separate groups of foreigners, who had been drinking at a nightclub earlier in the evening, encountered one another near the beach parking area.

Police Say Misunderstanding Led to Altercation

North Kuta Police Chief Commissioner I Ketut Sukadana said the confrontation occurred at approximately 10:30 pm Central Indonesia Time (WITA) on Monday night.

“The incident occurred Monday night around 10:30 pm WITA because they both tried to approach and seduce a foreign woman there. The two parties didn’t know each other, and they ended up arguing, arguing, and pushing each other and punching each other,” Sukadana said on Tuesday (30 June 2026).

Police said the disagreement escalated into a physical confrontation before members of the public intervened.

An eyewitness, Kadek Agus (26), who works at a nearby convenience store, said the disturbance drew the attention of people in the area and caused a commotion around the popular tourist destination.

According to information gathered by police, residents and visitors in the parking area stepped in to separate those involved before the situation escalated further.

“Around 2:00 am this morning, they all finally dispersed and separated. As of now, no one from either party has come forward to report the incident to the North Kuta Police,” Sukadana said.

Police Continue Investigation Despite No Formal Complaint

Although no formal complaint has been lodged by either party, Bali Police have confirmed that they are continuing to investigate the incident following the circulation of the video online.

Officers from North Kuta Police have visited the location to examine the scene and gather statements from witnesses in an effort to establish the full sequence of events.

“Our officers have gone directly to the scene to inspect the crime scene and gather information from witnesses at the scene. We will continue to monitor developments to ensure the Canggu area remains safe and orderly,” Sukadana concluded.

Police have not disclosed the identities or nationalities of those involved, and no injuries or arrests have been reported. Authorities are continuing to collect information while monitoring the area to prevent similar incidents from occurring.

The incident has once again drawn attention to public order in one of Bali’s busiest tourist destinations, where Batu Bolong Beach and the surrounding Canggu area attract large numbers of domestic and international visitors, particularly during the evening.
